W. J. May Post #65Jones, Cass County, Michigan Organized July 24, 1882 The Post was named to honor William J. May of White Pigeon. He entered service in Company H, 11th Infantry at organization, as Colonel, on August 24, 1861 age 38. He resigned April 1, 1862. The Post was Mustered with 16 Charter Members. The first Post Commander was Thomas Blakly who served in Company E, 11th Michigan Infantry from August 24, 1861 to June 18 1862 when he was discharged suffering from lung disease. The Post met on Main Street at Thomas Hall, Eureka Hall, G.A.R. Hall and Macabee Hall. The last Post Commander was Samuel P. King who served in Company C, 12th Michigan Infantry from January 24, 1865 to March 16, 1865. The last Report was filed December 31, 1922 showing 8 Members. The Post was disbanded June 1923.
