Frank Graves Post #64
Niles, Berrien County, Michigan

Organized June 19, 1882

This Post was named to honor Frank Graves of Niles. He entered service as Lieutenant Colonel of the 8th Michigan Infantry, at organization, on August 9, 1861 at Detroit, age 26. He was commissioned Colonel on May 1, 1863. He was killed in action at the Wilderness, Virginia on May 6, 1864.

The Post was Mustered with 16 Charter Members.

The first Post Commander was David Bacon who enlisted as Captain of Company K, 6th Michigan Infantry on August 20, 1861. He was discharged after a gun shot wound as Lieutenant Colonel on August 7, 1863.

The Post met at the G.A.R. Hall on Mains street. In 1882 the meeting place is identified as AO of UW Hall on Main Street. 

The last Post Commander was D. Sheehan who enlisted as a Private in Company H, 20th Michigan Infantry on July 19, 1862. He was discharged as 1st Sergeant un June 9, 1865.

The last Report was filed on December 31, 1909 showing 19 Members. There were no Reports 1910 - 1912. 

The Post was disbanded in 1910.
