C. F. Dore Post #61Gaylord, Otsego County, Michigan Organized May 19, 1882 This Post was named to honor Clarence F. Doore, originally from Dover, Maine. He enlisted in Company K, 31st Maine Infantry on April 29, 1864 at the age of 18. He was listed Absent - Wounded in 1864. He was discharged on July 15, 1865. He is buried in the Bagley Cemetery in Gaylord. A report from the Mustering Officer was not found in the files, thus there is no list of Charter Members. The first Post Commander was F. M. Howe who served in Company C, 20th Michigan Infantry from August 16, 1862 until his discharge on July 25, 1865. The Post met inintially at the Good Templar Hall and by 1883 had moved to the Livingston Town Hall on First Street. After December of 1889 the Post met at "Their Hall" on the corner of First and East Stout Street. The last Post Commander was Lucian W. Lyon who enlisted, as a Private in Company H, 1st Maine Cavalry on February 26, 1862 and was discharged as Sergeant in Company F, 31st Maine Infantry on July 15, 1865. The last Report filed by this Post was on December 31, 1910 with 10 Members. The Post was disbanded in 1911.
