Chauncey Perry Post #50
Coral, Montcalm County, Michigan

Organized March 20, 1882

The Post was probably named after Chauncey Perry of Lenawee County. He enlisted in Company E, 3rd Michigan Cavalry on December 3, 1861 at Rome Center, age 20. He re-enlisted January 19, 1864 at La Grange, Tenn. He was mustered out at San Antonio, Texas on February 12, 1866.

The Post was mustered with 21 Charter Members.

The first Post Commander was Alvin Davis who served in Company D 1st Michigan Engineers and Mechanics. He enlisted on December 1, 1863 and was discharged on September 1, 1865.

The Post indicated it met at the Post Hall on Main Street. 

A note attached to the Report of June 30, 1894 indicates that all records were destroyed by fire.

The last Post Commander was Elias R. Ferguson. Unfortunately, his membership was not reported in the customary form. He enlisted in Company E, 10th Michigan Cavalry as Commissary Sergeant on  August 23, 1863. He was promoted to full Sergeant on January 15, 1865. He received a disability discharge on August 5, 1865 in Sweetwater, Tenn. 

The last Report filed by the Post was on December 31, 1899 showing 18 Members and with the note - "Charter returned".

The Post was disbanded January 1, 1900.
