A. L. Carver Post #28Hemlock, Saginaw County, Michigan Organized July 23, 1894 This Post was named to honor Adelbert L. Carver who served in Company A, 117th New York Infantry. He enlisted as a Private on July 26, 1862 at age 19. He was wounded on September 29, 1864 at Chaffin's Farm, VA. He was mustered out on May 30, 1865 in Albany New York. He filed for and was granted an Invalid pension on June 12, 1865.He reports on the 1890 Federal Census Special Schedule that his "back was hurt by an Army mule". He probably died shortly before the Post was formed (Hemlock is located in Richmond Township,) His wife, Lucy A. Carver filed for and was granted a Widows pension on Nov. 25, 1893 Only one report filed by this Post has survived. This was filed on December 31, 1904 and indicates that there were 17 Members. The Charter also survives and lists 17 Charter Members. No officer lists were found. The Report noted that the Post met at Bennett's Hall in Hemlock. The Post was disbanded in 1916
