William Perrott Post #22Buchanan, Berrien County, Michigan Organized July 11, 1881 This Post was named to honor William B. Parrott of Buchanan. He enlisted as 1st Lieutenant an Quartermaster in the 12th Michigan Infantry on August 4, 1862. He was Acting Brigade Quartermaster in July 1863. He died, of disease, at Buchanan on March 14, 1864
The Post was mustered with 38 Charter Members.
The first Post Commander was John F. Barmore who enlisted as a Private in Company C, 12th Michigan Infantry on December 3, 1861. He was discharged as Corporal on July 29, 1865. He died January 19, 1919.
The Post met at a variety of Halls on Front Street. In 1881 at Good Templar, 1882, Odd Fellows, 1887 at S. of V., 1889 at Roe’s, 1893 at Boyle’s and 1894 G. A. R. Hall. In June of 1912 they indicate meetings at City Hall on Oak Street and in 1919, Council Rooms.
The last Post Commander, in 1931, was Samuel Bunker who served as a Bugler in Company K, 11th Michigan Cavalry. He died on December 22, 1935.
No Roster of Officers was reported after 1931. No reports were filed for 1932 and 1933. The Post was disbanded in 1937.
